Latest updateI had to redo the swing gate, now it closes properly and very sturdy.
I've also ordered an RGB strip of 164 feet that just plugs in and it's 110V with a remote control. This is a very easy installation for someone like me who doesn't like to play with electricity. I might order a second one to get a better lighting.
The total cost is 33% of what it would of cost by putting 16' RGB strips, connectors, wiring and power supplies for 170' of valance, but mainly saving hours and hours of work.

Sand pump house latest addition to the engine facility. I added 5 brass piping lines to go out to the sand towers, and two to the coaling tower as a future project. Current project is scratch-building several sand towers for the steam and diesel maintenance racks. All this will sit near the coaling tower, water tank, water columns, and lots of small buildings for the yard.

My haul today from Discount Model Trains hobby shop in Addison, TX. It’s a great, well stocked hobby shop in the greater Dallas area. I would say it’s one of the better hobby shops I’ve visited in the several years as I’ve visited hobby shops across many states of the US as I’ve traveled in the years since getting back into the hobby some years ago. Great couple guys running the shop and there today. Nice conversation and friendly. I would recommend visiting if anyone is passing through this area. Thanks to Ron Marsh for recommending it, he was quite accurate about it being a particularly good train shop.

This was in route to visit another fellow modeler, Chris Atkins who was very gracious to invite me to visit. He has an excellent and very creative and well done layout project built in an original section house. I’ll post some pics of his layout soon, it’s really quite superbly executed has a high degree of intelligence built into its design and planned operation. Look for those sometime later. Thanks to our pal Ralph Renzetti for putting me in contact with him. I also have a morning coffee and visit with another modeler, Muller Speed near where I’m staying the the morning, and a possible visit out to another layout with him midday for a bit of operations and conversation before I fly out. Dallas really seems to have a group of friendly, gracious, and very talented model railroaders. I’m quite envious of others who live in this area, or anywhere that has such a group as this of model railroaders.

Here I’ve retrieved some parts for my massive bridge building projects, some more static grass including some interesting examples of Woodland Scenics new static grass line, a few people for my recent street scene and structures work, a couple pieces of rolling stock including a very very nice Tangent model, a structure kit I had been looking at, and a range of various scenery materials and details. Plus I had been wanting to try the Monroe Models weathering powders so I picked up a couple rust colors as I’ll need more for my bridge work. And some rail joiners! I know, I know, most everyone in our community know of my opinion on joiners, and I don’t use em on the visible layout, but I’m trying to get staging in service, at least basically. For that trackage I’ll use joiners. I mean I am picky, but I’m not crazy... ok, I guess I’ve asked for the ridicule to come in the comments from the declaration that I’m not in fact crazy. LOL
